IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Truman track and field teams returned to action for the first time since early December. Brittany Campbell won the women's 200 and Jennifer Zweifel improved on her provisional mark in the women's triple jump.
Campbell crossed in 27.01 and outpaced two other Bulldogs, Cara Tom (4th) and Nora Kueny (5th) in the 200 to claim top honors. She also advanced to the finals of the 60 meter dash and finished fourth overall with a time of 8.08 while Tom did the same and placed fifth in 8.33
Zweifel finished third in the long jump and was second in the triple jump in the second meet of the season. Her leap of 38-10.50 in the triple is the fifth best in Division II.
Becca Nelson was third in the 60 meter hurdles and Lisa Kucharski also took the bronze in the pole vault.
Matthew LaPointe was second in the pole vault on the men's side and Jairus Bryant was a runner-up in the men's triple jump.
On the track, William Smith ran 8.61 that was good for third in the 60 meter hurdles while Bryant ran 51.90 in the 400, which placed him fourth as did Ryan Peterson in the 600 with a time of 1:22.62.
Derek Atwood was the top thrower with a fifth place finish in the shot put.
The teams will return to Ames, site of the first meet of the season, for the Iowa State Open next weekend.
