NCAA Qualifiers
Championship Program
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman's
Derek Atwood and
Jennifer Zweifel have qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships next week in Mankato, Minn. In addition, Atwood and Zweifel are joined by
Karen Grauel,
Rachel McCarroll and
Anne Ratermann on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association all-region team.
Atwood (Lee's Summit, Mo., Lee's Summit North) qualified 11th in the shot put by throwing 56-10.25 last weekend at the MIAA Championships. This will be his first indoor championship. He last competed in the outdoor championship in the 2009 season finishing 13th in the shot.
Zweifel (Maryville, Mo., Maryville) is qualified in both the long jump and triple jump. She is seeded second behind Abilene Christian's Amanda Ouedraogo. Zweifel broke her own school record by winning the MIAA Triple Jump title last weekend with a mark of 41-00.50 while Ouedraogo leads the nation with a mark of 42-04.75 set back on February 3rd. She also qualified 11th in the long jump after breaking a 30-year old school record this past weekend at the conference championships. Her mark was 19-00.50.
This will be the second straight indoor championship for Zweifel as she earned All-America honors last season by placing sixth in the triple jump. She was also an All-American in the outdoor version of the event and placed ninth in the long jump last May.

Rachel McCarroll and
Anne Ratermann joined Atwood and Zweifel on the USTFCCCA all-region team. The top five from each region in individual events earned the all-Region distinction.
The Bulldogs are in the South Central region and
Grauel (Macon, Mo., Macon) earned her honors in the 5000 meter run,
McCarroll (Lawson, Mo., Excelsior Springs)in the weight throw and
Ratermann (Florissant, Mo., Rosati Kain)in the mile run.
