Track & Field Concludes Regular Season at ESU

EMPORIA, Kan. - - Senior Anne Ratermann used the regular season's final event to secure an NCAA provisional time in the 800 meter run, while fellow senior Jennifer Zweifel added a pair of event victories at the Emporia State Twilight Qualifier on Saturday evening.
 
Ratermann (Florissant, Mo., Rosati Kain) used a time of 2:12.23 to set a new season-best by nearly two full seconds and pick up an NCAA Div. II provisional mark with the 26th-fastest time nation-wide. Zweifel (Maryville, Mo., Maryville), meanwhile, recorded provisional marks of 5.86m (long jump) and 12.13m (triple jump) to beat out the rest of the field in both events.
 
Junior Lisa Kucharski (Woodstock, Ill., Woodstock) (1:04.08; 400-meter hurdles) added a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.08, while freshman Kelli Hines (Shelbina, Mo., South Shelby HS) placed eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.28m.
 
On the men's side, junior Ryan Peterson (Rolla, Mo., Rolla) finished fourth in the 400 meter dash (49.62).
 
Individuals with provisional and automatic marks will next await word regarding acceptance into the Div. II men's and women's track & field national championships, to be held May 24-26 at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
