KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The first Great Lakes Valley Conference championship that the Bulldogs will be vying for will take place in October when the Truman Cross Country teams will race for the title at Maryville (Mo.) University in St. Louis. In addition, the Track & Field teams will compete for the indoor GLVC title on Feb. 21-22 in Indianapolis, Ind. and the outdoor championship on May 2-3 in Romeoville, Ill.

Cross Country Championships:  (2012 Results)
The GLVC title has been won by the University of Southern Indiana the last two years and four of the last five. The Screaming Eagles have won seven GLVC championships and along with Bellarmine (Ky.) represented the conference at the NCAA Division II Championships.

Bellarmine's senior Angela Musk won the individual title with a time of 21:07.40 on the six kilometer course while Knights sophomore Emily Frith came in second at 21:33.30. Frith will be the top returning runner from last year's meet as five of the top 10 from the 2012 championships will be back. Southern Indiana had four runners in the top 10 and three are slated to return.
The GLVC championship will be October 26 in St. Louis. Musk, Frith and senior Jessica Watychowicz of Wisconsin-Parkside all earned all-America honors last season.

In the NCAA regionals, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) took the top three spots with Grand Valley (Mich.) State, Saginaw Valley (Mich.) and Ferris (Mich.) State advancing to nationals along with Southern Indiana and Bellarmine.  Sophomore Allyson Winchester for Grand Valley State was the regional champ with a time of 20:57 with Musk coming in second at 21:11.00.

The Midwest regional meet will return to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on November 9th where it was contested last year.

The Truman women had one conference cross country title under the MIAA banner, winning the 2000 Championship. Most recently Karen Grauel won two of the last three individual cross country championships, the first by any Bulldog women.  Grauel's winning time last year was 22:11.59.

Indoor Track & Field: (2013 Top Performance List)
The GLVC Indoor Track & Field championships will take place on Feb. 22-23 at the Athletics and Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Indianapolis (Ind.).

The Bellarmine women won last year's championship as they edged out host Indianapolis and Lewis (Ill.) University. The Knights scored 129 points followed by the Greyhounds 112 and the Flyers 91.5.

The conference had five representatives at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. Bellarmine sent two student-athletes while Lewis, Southern Indiana and Wisconsin-Parkside sent one apiece.

The Bulldogs scored 29 points at the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with senior Rachel McCarroll earning all-America honors and was the team's lone representative at the Division II championships.

Outdoor Track & Field: (2013 Top Performance List)
The Bulldogs will head to the windy city for the last conference title to be decided next school year. The GLVC Outdoor championships are slated for May 2-3 at Lewis Stadium on the campus of Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.

It was the University of Indianapolis literally running away with both the men's and women's titles last year with the Greyhound women scoring 198.5 points to Lewis' 116. It was the fourth straight outdoor title for Indianapolis.

The GLVC had seven women compete at the Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Bellarmine sent three runners to the meet with Angela Musk earning all-America honors in the 1500 meter run. Southern Indiana had two competitors and Drury and Indianapolis had one apiece.

The Truman women finished sixth in their final MIAA Outdoor championships with 49 points while junior Rebecca Nelson competed for the Bulldogs at the nationals placing 17th out of 21 in the Javelin throw.
