KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Tennis team will see some significant changes as they head into the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the first time this upcoming season. The Bulldogs will see a new slate of teams on their schedule in addition to competing against different regional teams at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tournaments.

The transition out of the MIAA and into the GLVC will also shift the Bulldogs from the Central region to the Midwest region comprising teams from the GLVC, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

On the women's side within the region last year, Drury was the top team as the Panthers had four of the top seven players ranked. The Panthers advanced to the round of 16 of the NCAA tournament last season knocking off fellow conference member Lewis both in the conference tournament finals and the third round of the national tournament.

The Flyers had the top ranked player in the region and the GLVC Player of the Year in Zsofia Lanstiak with Drury's Zatalia Kozel was the Freshman of the Year.

Drury and Lewis have been in the GLVC title match the last three years with the Panthers winning six of the last seven GLVC titles.

Southern Indiana was the top team on the men's side last year with the Screaming Eagles claiming the crown following a 5-3 victory over Drury.

The league was represented by three teams in the NCAA tournament with Rockhurst joining Drury and Southern Indiana. The Hawks bowed out in round one while Drury fell in round two. USI lost 5-3 to UC San Diego in the round of 16.

USI's Jack Joyce earned the conference Freshman of the Year award and Drury's Andy Blair won his second straight Player of the Year honor.

While the Bulldog Tennis teams will not see any GLVC dual action until next spring, they will experience some aspects of the conference changeover this fall. The Bulldogs will compete in the annual ITA Fall regional tournament which will feature teams from the region in a single-elimination individual and doubles tournament.
