SOMERS, Wis. – A pair of set piece goals by top-seeded Wisconsin-Parkside proved to make the difference on Friday afternoon, as the host Rangers defeated the Truman women's soccer team 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference women's soccer tournament semifinals.

No. 4 (NSCAA) Parkside (16-0-3) jumped on the board in the 25th minute, when substitute Lauren Bialas came on and immediately converted a Niekie Pellens free kick to put the hosts ahead, 1-0. Then, in the 59th minute, Kelsey Armour flicked home a header off a Pellens corner kick to push the margin to two goals.

For the match, UWP out-shot the Bulldogs 9-6, with a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Truman earned two corner kicks but was unable to break the Parkside back line and get on the board.

Junior Jessica Hanson and freshman Allison Lockett each led the Bulldogs with two shots, while senior Melanie Hunt and junior Alexis Heffernan added one apiece. Freshman Katie Mattingly played all 90 minutes in net, making three saves.

The Bulldogs close the 2014 season with a 13-5-2 overall record and will graduate four seniors – Hunt, Lauren Seawright, Tori Owens, and Sara Bommarito. Truman is set to return eight starters for the 2015 season next September.
