Jon Gooch was named head coach of the Truman State University women's tennis program in 2026 after serving as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs since 2019.
A Truman State alumnus and former men's tennis student-athlete, Gooch brings a deep understanding of the Bulldog experience and a longstanding commitment to the success of Truman State tennis. Since joining the coaching staff, he has played a key role in recruiting, player development, match preparation, team management, and fostering a culture centered on character, accountability, and academic success.
During his seven seasons as an assistant coach, the Bulldogs established themselves as a consistent competitor within the Great Lakes Valley Conference, posting .500-or-better records in four seasons while helping numerous student-athletes achieve success both on the court and in the classroom.
Gooch's connection to tennis extends well beyond the collegiate level. For more than two decades, he has provided private and group instruction to players of all ages throughout the Kirksville area, emphasizing sound technique, strategy, injury prevention, and long-term development. He has also developed extensive expertise as a racquet technician, working with players ranging from beginners to high-level competitors.
A 2015 graduate of Truman State, Gooch earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. He resides in Kirksville and remains actively involved in the local tennis community while continuing to mentor and develop Bulldog student-athletes.
