After an outstanding career at Hickman High School in Columbia, Mike Richardson came to the university in 1962 and quickly made an impact on Bulldog Football. As a freshman, he gained 1036 yards, the eighth-best single season rushing total in the university's rich football history. That same year, he rolled up 296 yards against defending NAIA national champion Pittsburg State on a wet homecoming day. For his career, he had a rushing total of 2353 yards, despite the fact that as a senior he was a defensive back, not an offensive back. Three times he was selected to the All-MIAA first team on offense and once, he landed on the All-Conference first team on defense. Since he left the campus, Mr. Richardson has resided in St. Louis and was employed by Chrysler Corporation in St.Louis.
