Paul Ozug was a product of Gary-Edison High School in Gary, Ind. He led the city, conference and county in scoring and earned all-conference honors twice and honorable mention all-American accolades. He was also an all-conference baseball player. Mr. Ozug attended Houston University before transferring to Truman. Mr. Ozug was one of Truman's best frontliners during his period of time. He averaged 21.7 points and 13.3 rebounds during the 1967-68 season, leading the MIAA in scoring and finishing second in rebounding that year. He was selected to the first-team all-conference and the second-team all-district. At the time of his induction, he ranked eighth on Truman's single-season scoring list with 498 points and third on the single-season list for average points per game (21.7). In his senior season, he suffered a knee injury that sidelined him for the remainder of his final year. Before he was forced to sit out, he averaged 12.2 points for the first 12 games in 1968-69. After graduating in 1969 from Truman, he earned a master's degree from Indiana University and devoted 20 years to teaching, first in the Hammond (Ind.) school system. For the past 13 years, he has resided in Fayette County (Ga.) and has taugh health in the middle schools the past 10 years.
